Ex-WWE Star Returning To Wrestling
A former WWE Superstar is set to make a surprise return to the wrestling ring after more than a year out of action and the comeback just might be iconic.
Peyton Royce and Billie Kay are best known for their time in WWE where they competed as The IIconics. Starting out in NXT, the Australian pair made their way to the main roster and had the biggest win of their careers when they dethroned Sasha Banks and Bayley for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 35.
They lost that championship in August 2019 and in August of the following year, the duo lost a tag team bout against Liv Morgan & Ruby Riott with the stipulation that the losers of the match must disband their team. Asa result, both Royce and Kay would have forgettable solo runs before both being released by the company in April 2021.
Six months later the popular pair now known as Cassie Lee (Royce) and Jessie McKay (Kay) debuted in IMPACT Wrestling as The IInspiration, winning the Knockouts Tag Team Championship. The duo enjoyed a six-month spell in that promotion before finishing up in April 2022.
Since then Cassie Lee and her husband, AEW star Shawn Spears, have welcomed their first child into the world but now it looks like Lee is ready to return to the ring.
World Series Wrestling – an Australian-based promotion – has announced that Cassie Lee will be a part of their tour in October 2023 that will take place in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, and Sydney. Lee reacted to the announcement with the simple message “Let’s grapple.”
