Ex-WWE Star Open To In-Ring Return

A former WWE Superstar could make a comeback.

Lacey Evans, real name Macey Estrella, left WWE in August 2023 after struggling to kickstart her career on SmackDown. After a break due to the birth of her second child, Evans was repackaged and reintroduced via a series of vignettes, but the new character failed to click with the audience.

Evans was later repackaged again and began using a military-style gimmick leaning on her career in the Marines. However, the character was unable to generate any real momentum and Evans was released from her contract.

Lacey Evans later claimed wrestling was never her passion, and she was content to channel her energy into the projects away from the ring.

However, in a new interview with Carlo Perruzza, the star suggested she could yet get back inside the squared circle.

“Yeah, I mean, I love wrestling, don’t get me wrong. It wasn’t my passion, but I love the hard-hitting action. If there’s a company out there that will bring me in to kick ass and get my ass kicked, that’s great. But right now, we are focused on a lot. We have a lot of investment properties. We invested from all the blessings that WWE has given us.

We have a construction company, my husband’s a general contractor, which we’ve ran prior to WWE. So we do a lot. We also teach our kids work ethic. We have Air BNBs, we have properties, we have a cafe named after our girls. I homeschool, I take all that very, very serious,”

Lacey Was Scheduled To Win WWE Women’s Title

Although she never won championship gold while with WWE, there were plans for Lacey Evans to win the SmackDown Women’s Title.

Writing in her book Our Fight, Ronda Rousey revealed Evans was supposed to win the Money In The Bank Ladder Match in 2022, before beating her for the title on the same night. Rousey was even allowed to tell Evans she would be winning, only for Vince McMahon to change his mind without warning or explanation.

The spot meant for Evans was instead given to Liv Morgan.
