Ex-Champion Chose Love With WWE Star Over Enticing New AEW Contract
WWE Speed Champion Andrade rejected a lucrative offer from AEW for Charlotte Flair.
Andrade left AEW at the end of 2023 following his contract expiry.
He then made his return to WWE at the Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant in the men’s Royal Rumble match.
In a new interview with Enmascarados TUDN, Andrade revealed that Tony Khan offered him double money to re-sign with AEW.
But he rejected the offer so he could return to the Stamford-based promotion and work together with his then-wife, Charlotte Flair.
Unfortunately, the couple got separated in September 2024.
“AEW offered me almost double to stay… but I chose WWE because of love.”
“She supported me. We talked as a couple — why not go back to WWE and do something together?
Maybe I could help her career, and she could help mine. We’d never done anything together on TV. So we decided: let’s try.”
“It wasn’t just me using her. It was our decision. She was happy.
She said, ‘I see you smiling again, you’re in Mexico and doing great.’ But we still thought it’d be good to work together. So I came back.”
Ex-WWE Star Andrade Made His In-Ring Return
Andrade’s second WWE run didn’t last long. He got released from the Stamford-based promotion in September 2025.
It was mainly due to disciplinary issues, including a violation of their wellness policy, that led to a suspension without pay.
Reports say he was pulled from a TV taping a few weeks earlier and sent home.
He shocked everyone by showing up on Dynamite on October 1, 2025, attacking Kenny Omega and joining the Don Callis Family.
But he vanished right after because WWE hit him with a 90-day non-compete clause they enforced with a letter to AEW.
His AEW status is still murky. But he made his in-ring return recently despite the non-complete clause.
According to reports, Andrade has made a deal with WWE that allows him to wrestle only in Puerto Rico.
