Ex-WWE Star Claims Goldberg’s Best Match Was Against A Soda Machine

Goldberg's WCW Streak Revealed

In his prime, Goldberg was renowned for aggression and raw power.

His entrance to the ring, which started backstage as he walked while being surrounded by security guards, was a spectacle.

Before entering the squared circle, he would stand in a cloud of pyro smoke and psyching himself up.

He has also been televised headbutting lockers, sometimes causing him to bleed before the match even began.

While it was Goldberg’s way of getting into his zone, not every wrestler saw it from his perspective.

Former WWE star Stevie Richards discussed one such incident on his The Stevie Richards Show podcast, talking about the former champion’s encounter with a soda machine.

He hasn’t had a passable match in years. Even the Taker match in Saudi Arabia. I mean, the best matches I’ve seen Goldberg had are against the soda machine and the doors backstage. [1:49:42 onwards]

Richards then recounted an incident involving the WWE Hall of Famer during a house show. He and Tommy Dreamer watched Goldberg walk by and scream at the soda machine before kicking and headbutting it.

Richards also claimed that the former champion’s routine caused him to concuss himself even before he went out to wrestle.

Goldberg To Face Gunther At Saturday Night’s Main Event

In November last year, Goldberg claimed that WWE was planning a retirement match for him.

He recently appeared on WWE RAW and faced World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, calling him his next target.

The match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 will also be for Gunther’s title.

The former heavyweight champion last wrestled at the 2022 Elimination Chamber against Roman Reigns.

Jey Uso, who Gunther beat to win the belt, has backed him to retain his title at SNME.
