Ex-WWE Star Makes Surprising Confession

A former WWE star has made a bold admission.

Eva Marie signed with WWE in 2013 after joining the reality show Total Divas.

Despite having no wrestling background and very minimal training, the star quickly debuted on the main roster, feuding with the likes of AJ Lee. Marie was eventually moved back to NXT in 2015, but less than a year later, she was back on Raw.

However, she struggled to gain a foothold in the rapidly growing women’s division, and she left the company in August 2017. Marie made her on-screen return in June 2021 after already being under contract for several months. But again, she was quickly lost in the shuffle and was released that November.

In a wide-ranging new interview with Sonya Deville and Toni Cassano on Unwrapped, Marie reflected on her time with WWE and how she was regularly booed during her matches. Surprisingly, she admitted that she never knew how to wrestle.

“Oh, it was wild. It bothers me, like, what’s crazy about that because I didn’t know how to wrestle. Like what’s crazy is like I truly didn’t know how to. So like having the opportunity to be on such a grand stage knowing like the efforts of everybody else having to put in the time and work to get there, and I didn’t know how to (wrestle), ate me alive.”

Despite that, she said that she would have reacted the same way if the roles had been reversed.

“I would feel some type of way too if a brand new girl walked into the locker room and I’m like, ‘Where did this chick come from? She hasn’t done a thing. She doesn’t even know how to take a back bump.”

During the same interview, Eva Marie explained why she would never close the door on a return to the ring.

The star said she would be silly to rule out ever returning to the company, as she loves performing. Marie added that when it comes to performing in front of a live wrestling crowd, there’s no high that compares.
