Forgotten Ex-WWE Star Makes Surprise AEW Appearance

Billy Gunn & Rico at AEW WrestleDream

AEW WrestleDream kicked off with a surprise.

Ahead of their match against The Acclaimed on the zero-hour pre-show, Mansoor and Mason Madden revealed the identity of the man who would be in their corner. To the surprise of just about everyone, the mystery manager was revealed to be former WWE Superstar Rico.

Rico famously managed Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo back in the early 2000s when they were known as Billy & Chuck. The star was eventually released by the company in 2004 before heading to AJPW a year later.

After a short spell in Japan, Rico retired before making a one-match comeback with Future Stars of Wrestling in 2012.

At WrestleDream the MxM Collection were defeated by The Acclaimed despite Rico’s best efforts. In the closing stages, Billy Gunn even gave Rico a Famouser for his troubles.

AEW WrestleDream Results

The biggest story coming out of WrestleDream is the stunning end to the full-time career of Bryan Danielson. Not only did Moxley grab the win, he convinced Wheeler Yuta to betray Danielson and ensured his former friend left the arena on a stretcher.

Elsewhere, Swerve Strickland made his return to television, and Konosuke Takeshita claimed the International Title.
