Ex-WWE Star Admits Faction Snub “A Kick In The Balls”

Triple H WWE

Not much good came out of the pandemic era in WWE but one of the shining lights from that time was undoubtedly The Hurt Business.

MVP, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander banded together, running roughshod over Raw with Lashley claiming the US Title while Benjamin & Alexander captured the Raw Tag Team Championship all under the watch of the wily MVP.

Ultimately, the group was cut down when Bobby Lashley grew tired of Benjamin and Alexander after they lost their title but many felt there was a lot more juice to be gained from the popular quartet.

Speaking to Metro, Shelton Benjamin noted that he considers his time in the Hurt Business to be one of his major contributions to wrestling and says like many fans, he believes the group was cut down far too quickly:

I consider that one of my defining contributions to the wrestling business. Definitely cut short too soon – way, way, way too soon. I feel like there’s even to this day, there’s still so much more that Hurt Business could offer.

But again, we don’t make those calls. That was, you know, just a decision. And like I said, love it or hate it, just gotta live with it and move on. What most fans are thinking, we’re thinking.

Hurt Business Return Dropped By WWE

Benjamin noted that there were plans in place for the group to return to WWE but without explanation, those plans were dropped:

There was definitely a conversation and planning for the Hurt Business to make a return. And then things just changed,’ he said. ”They set dates, the dates changed and things changed. And then suddenly it was like, ‘Nope, we’re just not doing it.’ And that was… that was a kick in the balls.

Shelton Benjamin also revealed a romantic angle between him and a current AEW star was scrapped when he made his return to WWE in 2017.
