A forgotten WWE star has admitted that they enjoyed being part of a controversial storyline which had incest at its heart.

The Attitude Era was known for WWE pushing boundaries in terms of taste and decency. But not every controversial idea was confined to those few years in the company.

In 2008, WWE fans were introduced to the brother and sister pairing of Paul and Katie Lea Burchill. But there was more than met the eye with the pair. Despite apparently being siblings, hints of an incestuous relationship were dropped, leaving many fans feeling uneasy about the pairing.

But for at least one star involved, they were a fan of the edgy move.

Speaking on the Ring the Belle podcast, Katie Lea Burchill gave her side of the story on the storyline and explained why she was a fan of the idea:

I mean, it’s cool. It’s edgy. Right? And also, I was a big fan of the movie The Crow. So, you know the bad guys, Top Dollar and Myca, they’re half-siblings, right? So, they have this little incestuous thing going on. So, ever since then, I thought, ‘Huh, that’s kind of cool and edgy.’ So when they came to us and brought it up, I thought, yeah. Okay. I said, ‘I love it.’

Burchill continued, noting that WWE already had ideas to back away from the idea and make the pair step-siblings:

Then I think too, because I mean, the reveal was going to be that we’re either — well, we had a big meeting before our debut about it because they were already a little bit like maybe they’re not brother and sister that are actually, you know, sleeping together.

Maybe it’s the reveal is their only step brother and sister, so there’s no blood relation. Or on the flip side, they’re half-brother and sister or they’re actual brother and sister, but we’re only teasing the incest and it’s not actually happening.

So it was one of those two things. It wasn’t going to be like full-blown, but also I mean, he’s not my actual sibling, so it doesn’t matter, you know? I think those people who thought that we were actually brother and sister. So maybe that was also contributed to people being sort of disgusted by it.

WWE Hall Of Famer Has New Role

In other WWE news, it seems Triple H has found a new role for The Undertaker. The Undertaker is believed to be a huge part of AAA behind the scenes after WWE recently acquired the Mexican promotion.

AAA Triplemania XXXIII saw one larger-than-life WWE star return to the ring, and it seems they might be swapping WWE for Mexico on a regular basis.
