Ex-WWE Star Debuts For Tony Khan
On a big night for Tony Khan, a former WWE star has debuted in his ring.
The sixth anniversary of Dynamite marked a big night for Tony Khan and AEW, reaching a milestone that some never thought possible when the company began in 2019.
That show saw Andrade El Idolo make his shock return to AEW, fresh off his firing from WWE. El Idolo attacked Kenny Omega on his comeback before he joined up with The Don Callis Family, whose ranks now look less like a pro wrestling faction and more like a Ryder Cup team.
Hangman Adam Page challenged Samoa Joe to an AEW Men’s World Title match at WrestleDream despite being partners on the night. Page, Joe, and Powerhouse Hobbs picked up the win in a trios match against the Death Riders before things turned sour. Page gave Hobbs and Joe their AEW Trios Title belts, but when Joe’s fell to the mat, he was irate, and a fight soon broke out.
There was also a challenge for AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander as well. Former champion Toni Storm issued a title challenge for WrestleDream to Statlander, which the champion then accepted.
Tony Khan Welcomes Ex-WWE Star To ROH
Before any of that could take place, however, matches were taped for Tony Khan’s other promotion, Ring of Honor. One match held before Dynamite under the ROH banner saw former WWE star and Japanese standout Sareee make her debut for the company.
The reigning IWGP Women’s Champion teamed with Alex Windsor to defeat Billie Starkz and Diamante in tag team action. It was the first time the star had competed in either of Tony Khan’s companies.
The star previously spent two years as part of WWE NXT, where she was known as Sarray. She recently blamed WWE for her failure in the company.
