Ex-WWE Star Confused By Expectations Of Vince McMahon Doc
The documentary about Vince McMahon continues to make waves in the wrestling world but one former WWE star doesn’t know what people were expecting from it.
The six-part docuseries on Vince McMahon has divided opinion among wrestling fans. Some long-time fans feel there was very little in the way of new information gleaned from the series while those who hoped to see McMahon crucified for his alleged crimes didn’t feel satisfied with the outcome either.
Most of the interviews conducted in the documentary were carried out before news of the lawsuit filed against McMahon broke in January 2023. The timing of that news proved to be significant as it came just days after WWE announced a multi-billion dollar deal with Netflix – the streaming giant behind the documentary as well.
“Netflix Is Married To WWE” Claims Eric Young
Speaking on HUGE POP!, TNA star Eric Young weighed in with his thoughts on the series and doesn’t understand what people were expecting from it given WWE and Netflix’s close relationship:
I don’t know what people were expecting (from Netflix’s Vince McMahon docuseries). I mean, Netflix is married to the WWE. No one understands better that he doesn’t work there anymore, but I mean, his legacy will be part of that company as long as it exists and at one time, I would say in my personal opinion, a genius and maybe the greatest promoter living and he lost his way along the way obviously and the documentary is certainly not kind.
I haven’t seen it but I know people that have. I don’t know if I’ll watch it or not. It’s certainly not on my list. There’s lots of other good TV that I’m busy watching, and this comes as — the stuff on there is stuff that’s been talked about before.
So, yeah, it’s no news to me but, it’s definitely got the world and anybody that’s linked or affiliated to wrestling in any way talking and wondering what’s gonna happen so, it’s never a dull moment in pro wrestling. That’s for sure.
Eric Young has previously claimed he “morally” couldn’t work for Vince McMahon following his exit from WWE in 2023 after McMahon’s brief return to power in the company.
