Ex-WWE Star Betrayed By John Cena May Return For Revenge

John Cena’s final opponent will be revealed at the end of the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament.

Superstars from NXT, RAW, and SmackDown, and even beyond WWE, will take part in this tournament.

The first two matches will be on the November 10th, 2025 episode of Monday Night RAW: Damian Priest vs. Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Sheamus.

Matt Cardona can be given a spot in John Cena’s Last Time Is Now tournament

On Notsam Wrestling, Sam Roberts claimed that one of the two spots should be given to Matt Cardona for the history he shares with John Cena, and the story that be written from this.

The Champ had mentioned Cardona by name during his “pipebomb” ahead of facing CM Punk at Night of Champions.

Now, I got two spots that remain. Two spots for people that don’t work for WWE. This one, and maybe it’s because I work with him on Sirius every Tuesday, but to me, it’s somebody who has a history with John Cena. It’s somebody who would certainly get a pop.

I would put Matt Cardona in the tournament. And some people would, and some people wouldn’t. Some people would agree with me, and some people would not agree with me, but I’ve got two spots for people outside of the WWE that I can put in the tournament. I think that if I’m going to put somebody in, I want them either connected to John Cena somehow or, you know, they’re going to somehow benefit from this within a WWE bubble.

And for me, the fact that Matt Cardona is connected to that history of John Cena and the two of them have a relationship, and we could sit there and say like, wouldn’t that be interesting if Matt Cardona ended up going all the way? If this is the way he got back into WWE after people have been asking for it for months and weeks and days and years.

John Cena and Matt Cardona’s history is interesting. When the duo worked together in WWE, Cardona went by the name Zack Ryder.

Back in 2012, Ryder and Eve Torres were shown as on-screen love interests. In that storyline, John Cena saved Torres from Kane, and she thanked him by kissing him. A wheelchair-ridden Ryder witnessed this and confronted The Champ, but was attacked by Kane.
