Ex-WWE Star Gives Insight Into Becky Lynch’s Backstage Influence
Becky Lynch tried to use her influence backstage to work with several undervalued stars.
At WrestleMania 41, Becky Lynch returned to action as she teamed with Lyra Valkyria to win the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Lynch had been a late replacement for Bayley, who was written out of the match despite not being injured.
24 hours later, Lynch turned on Valkyria after they lost the titles back to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.
This isn’t the first time that Lynch has worked to elevate young talent, having spent her run as NXT Women’s Champion working with several younger or underutilized stars.
Becky Lynch Pushed To Work With Underused WWE Stars
Arguably, the highlight of Tegan Nox’s (Nixon Newell) second WWE spell came in October 2023 when she challenged Becky Lynch for the NXT Women’s Title on Raw. Although she ultimately lost the match, it proved she could hang with the very best that WWE had to offer.
During an appearance on Horror Pop After Midnight, Newell looked back on how that match with Lynch came together, while praising The Man for her work behind the scenes.
“Dude, that was cool. Becky is such a good person in the sense of, one, she’s nice, but she fought for so many of the women in the locker room. She specifically asked to work with a lot of us, which you don’t really hear much of these days, so getting to work with her and learn from her was one of the best experiences ever, and I cannot thank Becky enough for that. She’s a cool dude. She’s a real, real cool dude.”
In an interview back in February, Nixon Newell revealed that she was disappointed with the match against Lynch, admitting her nerves got the better of her.
