Ex-WWE Referee Recalls Randy Savage Being a Perfectionist
A former WWE referee has shared his memories of working with Macho Man Randy Savage.
Randy Savage is fondly remembered by fans as one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time. His matches with the likes of Hulk Hogan, Ricky Steamboat, Ric Flair, Ultimate Warrior, and more are the stuff of legend, while his spell with the nWo in WCW put a bow on a quite remarkable career.
However, working with Savage wasn’t always the easiest task in the world if you were a referee.
During an interview with Steve Fall of WrestlingNews.Co, ex-WWE referee Earl Hebner looked back on working with the WWE Hall of Famer. Hebner admitted that he didn’t really enjoy refereeing Savage’s matches due to his level of planning and drive for perfection.
“Macho Man. I mean when it comes to WrestleMania, he gives you a sack of papers that thick of the whole match way before it was ever gonna go on. I mean two weeks before WrestleMania and then he comes back and I’ll go, ‘damn, this is a joke here.’ But that’s how he was, he was a perfectionist.”
WWE Legend Bret Hart And Earl Hebner End Long-Running Feud
During the same interview, Earl Hebner revealed that he and Bret Hart have ended their real-life feud. The issues between the pair stretched all the way back to the Montreal Screwjob in 1997, and the former referee’s involvement in the infamous double-cross.
However, the pair have now made up, with Hebner adding they have a good relationship.
