Ex-WWE Champion Reconciles With Nikki Bella After Heated Tension
The Bella Army can relax because a critic of Nikki Bella has squashed the beef with the WWE Hall of Famer.
When Nikki Bella faced Becky Lynch at WWE Clash in Paris for the Women’s Intercontinental Title, it was a matchup between two women who have had a lot of success.
Becky Lynch won the match with a backslide pin, which wasn’t a surprise since most people expected the champion to retain her title.
During the Clash in Paris pre-show, WWE announcer Wade Barrett had a line about how the WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella was desperate to prove that she can still compete against the top stars of today, while saying that this new generation of women has “changed the game” in WWE.
Since Wade is mostly a heel announcer, many people likely assumed he was speaking in character. However, Nikki Bella took issue with it while talking about it on her Nikki & Brie podcast.
“I would like to have a conversation with Wade Barrett. He avoided me on Monday, which was shocking, because he always comes up and says hi to me. He tried to avoid making eye contact with me in the hallway, and I understand when you want to be a ‘heel commentator’ and stuff, but then there’s one thing of….Michael Cole does this beautifully.
This is why Michael Cole is one of the greatest commentators. He knows how to take a life story and put it into what we do, because that is real. We don’t go out there as robots or superheroes. We are actually professional athletes, and we go through real things, and we have to put that (as) part of it.
Honestly, that stuff really doesn’t bother me. I get it. I was watching the pre-show, and I saw what Wade was saying about me in the pre-show. I’m sitting there getting ready in the locker room, like ‘Oh. Okay. That’s fine.’”
Due to Nikki’s comment getting a lot of attention, Barrett addressed it on social media.
“I had no idea Nicole felt this way, and I’m happy to have this ‘conversation’ any time she likes. I wish she’d brought it up when we said hello to each other at Raw, rather than via her podcast. I don’t understand the avoiding claim at all, simply not true.”
Wade Barrett Settled His Issues With Nikki Bella
In an update on the situation, Wade Barrett mentioned on social media that he spoke to Nikki Bella about the issue and they have resolved it.
“Great news, fight fans.. @NikkiAndBrie and I have spoken, we’ve smoothed things over, and I’ve graciously been allowed back into the Bella Army. Fully paid-up member since FCW 2008 🤝🏻🍷
“A difference of perspective – to which we are all entitled – but to be clear, some of the personal abuse that gets sent to Nikki on here is reprehensible and completely out of line, so let’s cut that out immediately.”

The FCW 2008 part is a reference to how they were both in WWE’s developmental system 17 years ago, so they have known eachother for a long time.
