Ex-WWE Star Says Top Female Wrestler Underappreciated By The Company

A former WWE star believes that a top female wrestler in the company is severely underrated and underappreciated.

As the WWE Women’s Royal Rumble winner, Bayley has a lot of momentum heading toward WrestleMania 40. However, there are times when it appears like the company would rather focus on other women.

When WWE held the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Press Event, some of the women who appeared were the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair, along with Becky Lynch, who wasn’t advertised for the event.

Bayley wasn’t there, which is something CM Punk talked about and said that there should be more respect given to Bayley not just as a Royal Rumble, but a veteran performer who is great at what she does.

Shelton Benjamin is a former WWE superstar who has nearly 25 years of experience in pro wrestling and two separate runs in WWE. Many people would say Benjamin was underrated in his career because of how talented he is as a performer, yet he was never pushed to a main event level.

Is Bayley One Of WWE’s Most Underrated Superstars?

In an interview with The Black Rasslin’ podcast, Shelton Benjamin talked about how much women’s wrestling has evolved over the years and went on to specifically praise Bayley as a performer.

“In the early 2000s it wasn’t the same and when you look at them now, they’ve really changed the game. The women are real legitimate draws for their matches, not for their looks, for their matches.”

“And that being said, this is to all social media — you need to be talking about Bayley a whole lot more. Like don’t get me wrong, I get it everyone’s hot on The Rock and Cody finishing the story but at the same time, I even saw CM Punk say it. Bayley won the Royal Rumble and all anyone is talking about is Cody’s story. Sorry. Give Bayley her flowers.”

“She’s one of the most underrated girls on the roster. I feel like she’s underrated and underappreciated by the company but not by the talent. I think we recognize what she is and Bayley should be world champion come April. That’s that’s my personal opinion.”

At WrestleMania 40 on either April 6 or April 7, Bayley will face the WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY, who is part of the Damage CTRL group that Bayley founded, but the group has since turned on Bayley.
