Ex-WWE Star Claims Company Mishandled Exit, Speaks Out On Abuse Allegations
A former WWE superstar isn’t happy about being released while claiming a woman falsely accused him.
When WWE decided to release Odyssey Jones in September 2024, it came at a time when he was on the receiving end of the most significant push of his career.
After working for WWE since 2019, Jones was finally getting some momentum on the main roster by working as an ally of The New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods while they were still babyfaces. Without any warning, Jones was gone.
The reason Jones got fired is that a woman accused him of domestic abuse. In January, Jones claimed he was falsely accused, and he also thanked WWE for giving him an opportunity. Jones, whose real name is Omari Palmer, said he had taken legal action against his accuser.
Odyssey Jones Explains What Happened Leading To WWE Release
While speaking to the Generation of Wrestling podcast, the former Odyssey Jones explained that the woman accusing him wasn’t his girlfriend, and he claims she was upset that he was making moves without her. When asked if he thought WWE mishandled the situation, Jones agreed with that.
“Yeah, I think they [WWE] mishandled it. Even when I talked to them about the situation, when they called me and first told me, I laughed on the phone because I know what happened. At the end of the day, I won’t dive too deep into it, I won’t drop names or anything, at the end of the day, it was a woman upset that I was making moves without her.
The narrative was that it was my girlfriend, throwing me under the bus, but it wasn’t my girlfriend. It was one of my girls, one of my women I was seeing while traveling. She got upset she wasn’t ‘the one,’ and upset she didn’t get the access she thought she deserved.”
Following his release, Jones has wrestled at independent wrestling shows and in All Japan, but he hasn’t been wrestling on TV with a major wrestling company.
