Ex-WWE Star Calls Out CM Punk & AJ Lee For Mixed Tag Team Match
A former WWE star wants to team up with his wife against CM Punk and AJ Lee in a mixed tag team match.
It’s not that often when a mixed tag team match is one of the most highly anticipated matches at a WWE PLE, but that was the case at Wrestlepalooza. The reason for this is that AJ Lee returned to WWE after more than a decade to team up with her husband, CM Punk.
At Wrestlepalooza, CM Punk & AJ Lee got the win over Seth Rollins and his wife, Becky Lynch. In a match that went about 30 minutes, Lee made Lynch tap out to the Black Widow submission. While that was happening, Punk was on the floor with Rollins, and Punk had a huge grin on his face as he looked ecstatic about his wife winning the match.
Considering the match was so well-received, it could lead to WWE doing more mixed tag team matches.
Matt Cardona worked for WWE for over a decade as Zack Ryder before his 2020 release. Since then, Ryder has thrived on the independents while his wife, Chelsea Green, is a WWE superstar who was the first Women’s US Champion.
AJ Lee And CM Punk Could Have To Deal With Chelsea Green And Matt Cardona
In an interview with Mister Swiff. Cardona said he would love to team with his wife in WWE against a team like Punk and Lee.
“Well, I mean, of course, we would go over. Chelsea Green would hit her finish, 1-2-3. I would love to team with Chelsea Green in a WWE ring. Never say never. We’ll see what happens. I think it has to happen. It’s gotta happen.”
For the first time since his WWE release five years ago, Matt Cardona was in a WWE ring again on NXT as part of the TNA invasion angle. Cardona works for TNA regularly, but he is not under contract to them.
