Roman Reigns faced off against Bronson Reed at the WWE Clash in Paris event on August 31, 2025.

The Tribal Chief emerged victorious, reclaiming his stolen sneakers from the former NXT North American Champion, who called himself “The Tribal Thief.” To celebrate his victory, Reigns autographed his shoes and threw them to the audience as a gift. However, the celebration was cut short as Bron Breakker suddenly appeared and attacked Reigns with a devastating spear through the announce table.

Both Breakker and Reed then unleashed a brutal two-on-one assault, delivering multiple Spears and Tsunamis. Jey Uso tried to save his cousin, but he wasn’t of much help as The Vision took him out, too. The vicious beat-down left Reigns severely injured and stretchered out of the arena, requiring immediate hospitalization.

WWE commentator Michael Cole later revealed that Reigns suffered multiple fractured ribs from the attack and would be out of in-ring action indefinitely. Days after his attack at Clash in Paris, Reed took to social media to claim he didn’t take Reigns’ shoes at the France premium live event but instead “took his soul,” establishing his supremacy over The OTC.

Roman Reigns Is Set To Film for His Upcoming Movie Street Fighter

Roman Reigns’ absence from WWE television is also linked to his commitment to star in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie. He will portray the iconic character Akuma. Dave Meltzer shared on Wrestling Observer Radio that Roman Reigns is starting filming for the Street Fighter movie, which will keep him off WWE screens for approximately a month.

Roman Reigns is filming Street Fighter. So it is an injury angle for him until he’s done filming, which is gonna be, I think, a week after the next pay-per-view, roughly. So it was a way to write him out for the next month, four weeks.

Akuma is a significant antagonist in the Street Fighter franchise, first introduced in “Super Street Fighter II Turbo” in 1994. The film, produced by Legendary Pictures and directed by Kitao Sakuri, has already begun production in Australia in August 2025.
