Ex-WWE Champion Makes Candid Ronda Rousey Admission
Ronda Rousey made a significant impact in WWE, helping uplift the women’s division with her unique background as a UFC champion and her dedication to the sport.
She signed with WWE in 2018 and made her impactful debut at WrestleMania 34. Throughout her WWE career, Rousey won the Raw Women’s Championship, the SmackDown Women’s Championship twice, and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship with Shayna Baszler, becoming an eight-time Women’s Triple Crown Champion.
Her presence helped bring mainstream attention to women’s wrestling, headlining important events like WrestleMania 35, which featured the women’s main event for the first time.
One notable match in Rousey’s WWE career was against the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion Shotzi Blackheart at the 2022 Survivor Series. This match was part of a feud over the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Shotzi Is a Ronda Rousey Fan
Speaking with TMZ during an interview, Shotzi praised her experience working with Rousey. She highlighted Rousey’s professionalism and willingness to take brutal bumps to make the match exciting.
The ex-WWE star mentioned that Rousey invited her to train at her home, showing her dedication to making the matches look great. She expressed pride in having wrestled Rousey at a pay-per-view event and praised her focus and commitment even while balancing family life.
“She was always so cool. She would invite me to her house to come train with her, and she was always down to take the most brutal bumps. Especially [during] our pay-per-view match, she was taking some crazy bumps for me.”
“I’m a big Ronda fan. I will forever be so proud to say, ‘Hey, I wrestled Ronda Rousey in a pay-per-view for the f**king championship.’ You can’t take that away from me.”
Ronda Rousey left WWE in October 2023 primarily due to personal health concerns and professional dissatisfaction. She openly discussed her history of neurological injuries, including concussions from MMA and wrestling, which impacted her decision. Additionally, she criticized WWE’s creative direction and management, particularly during Vince McMahon’s leadership.
Similarly, Shotzi Blackheart is no longer with WWE. Her contract expired in July 2025, and WWE chose not to renew it. She revealed she was surprised to be let go, especially after a comeback from a major ACL injury. She expressed disappointment, feeling that WWE had given up on her.
