Ex-WWE Champion Was Kicked Out Of The Locker Room
A famous former WWE Superstar has looked back on their early struggles with the company.
Victoria initially joined the sports entertainment giant in 2000 and went on to become a two-time Women’s Champion. During the first part of her career, she appeared as one of The Godfather’s many valets.
However, it wouldn’t be long until she relaunched her career as a wrestler, helping establish women’s wrestling on Raw alongside the likes of Trish Stratus, Lita, Jazz, and Molly Holly.
After leaving the company in 2009, the star joined TNA, where she won the Knockouts Title five times under the name Tara. The former champion essentially ended her full-time career in 2013, although she wrestled on the independent scene until 2019 while making occasional appearances for TNA and WWE.
Victoria Had A Troubled Start To Life In WWE
During a new interview with The Velvet Ropes with SoCal Val, Victoria recalled moving from being one of The Godfather’s escorts to a full-time member of the roster. This saw her kicked out of the locker room, and she eventually changed in a janitor’s closet.
“I rolled my stuff in the locker room… and I came back after going to go say hi to everybody… and my stuff was out,” she recalled. “And one of the girls came out and said, ‘Hey, this is for contracted girls only…
I was like, ‘Wow.’ You know, I was like, ‘Be strong. Be strong. Be strong.’ And I go, ‘Oh, okay.’ And I just grabbed [my stuff],” she said. “And I got dressed in a janitor’s closet.”
The star explained that in the past, some of the other “escorts” had been caught stealing, although no one told her.
“I found out later, some of the Godfather girls that were brought in were from strip clubs, and they would come back and things were stolen from their luggage or their purse,” she explained. “But that wasn’t explained to me… I wish it was explained to me… I wouldn’t have said anything.”
Victoria went on to give special praise to Ivory who took her under her wing. She added that this shaped how she dealt with new stars coming into the company when she was more established.
“Ivory… she took me under her wing and like, ‘Hey, do you want me to travel with you? You guys don’t know where to go eat and, like, check in, like how the road works,’” Varon remembered. “And she… rode with us… without her, like that woman, right? Is super important, too.
I learned from her that every new girl that came in, ‘would you like to ride with me? I don’t care if they’re there for a day… we can become friends for life.”
Back in July 2024, Victoria announced that she’d signed a WWE “nostalgia contract.” Although she was quick to point out that it didn’t mean she’d be getting back in the ring.
