Ex-WWE Champion Supports How John Cena’s Final Match Ended
Amid the criticism towards John Cena’s final wrestling match, an ex-WWE champion extended their support for it.
Saraya, fka Paige, was all praise for the 17-time World Champion, calling him the best storyteller.
Cena competed in his final match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII against Gunther. Since winning the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament, The Ring General had promised to make Cena tap out in Washington, DC.
And that’s what he did. Cena’s mantra had been about never giving up, and watching him tap out was the last thing on anyone’s mind.
A stunned audience could not comprehend what had happened and shouted jeers after the finish, as well as when Triple H made his way out with other talent and the support staff.
What Saraya Said About John Cena’s Final WWE Match
Speaking on her Rulebreakers with Saraya podcast, the former WWE Divas Champion said that the finish was fitting for the way Cena had managed his career.
John Cena just — he’s one of the best or is the best storyteller, I think, in wrestling. I think his psychology and everything is so fu**ing good. And I already went in there with the mindset that he was going to lose anyway. John has this moniker where he’s like, ‘never give up.’ It’s a poetic kind of thing [Cena tapping out].
I understand a lot of people are mad about it, and I understand where John is, ’cause I think he went on a podcast afterwards and was just like, you know, like I did try until the bitter end kind of thing, and I’m going out with my pride or whatever.
I thought it was really well done. Of course, I was like — it felt like deflated when he lost, even though, in my head, I knew that you know he was probably going to pass the torch to Gunther. [H/T: Wrestling Inc]
Since his victory on December 13, Gunther has turned into the company’s most hated wrestler.
