A former champion in WWE has been very lucky to walk away from a serious car accident.
Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ahmed Johnson has been extremely lucky after avoiding serious injury in a recent car crash that left his own vehicle wrecked.
Book Pro Wrestlers on Facebook shared the news of the crash that took place on September 29th, where Ahmed Johnson was allegedly hit by a drunk driver. Johnson – real name Tony Norris – was quoted as saying:
When you have the Lord on your side nothing can harm you.
Who Is Ex-WWE Star Ahmed Johnson?
Ahmed Johnson made an instant splash when he joined WWE in 1995. Although extremely limited in the ring, Johnson’s charisma and hard-hitting offence made him a firm favourite with fans.
Johnson captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Goldust at King of the Ring 1996 and even formed something of an on-screen friendship with then-WWE Champion Shawn Michaels. Those two men teamed with Sycho Sid to take on Camp Cornette at In Your House: International Incident.
Ahmed Johnson was part of six-man tag team matches at both WrestleMania 12 and 13. In 1996, he teamed with Jake Roberts and Yokozuna in a loss to Owen Hart, British Bulldog, and Vader. One year later, he was successful in a Chicago Street Fight as he joined the legendary Legion of Doom to defeat The Nation of Domination.
His feud with Faarooq and the Nation of Domination is what Johnson is best remembered for during his time in the company.
Such was his unpopularity behind the scenes at the time, Triple H had a heated confrontation with Vince McMahon about Johnson and his role in WWE.
