Ex-WWE Champion Doesn’t Rule Out AEW Comeback After 3 Years

Tony Khan AEW

A former champion in WWE has not ruled out a shock comeback to AEW, despite their controversial departure from the company.

It might be well over three years since former NXT Tag Team Champion Bobby Fish appeared in AEW. But he’s open to making a comeback despite being on the verge of 50 years old.

Speaking on the Two Man Power Trip podcast, Fish explained that he rules nothing out in his wrestling career as its still his best hope of a decent payday:

I have not spoken to them. I don’t rule out anything with AEW or anyone else. This is still the best way for me to earn a living — making the most money in the least amount of time — and I’m grateful, by the grace of God, that my body is still allowing me to do this.

So as long as that’s the case, I’m open. If my dance card allows me to do it, I don’t rule anything out. It’s pro wrestling — you never say never. Especially with Roddy and Kyle there now.

Bobby Fish Explains AEW Exit

Fish explained why he ended up leaving the company, and it all came down to finances:

We just couldn’t agree on numbers… I wasn’t in a great headspace. And had a new house, we were planning a wedding. And you know, the idea of another contract was safe… So probably jumped the gun… But I made sure that it was only a year. I did not want to do any more than a year for the numbers that we were talking.

Many fans have pointed to Bobby Fish as the star who tried to round up several ex-WWE stars and get them back to that company following the downfall of Vince McMahon and the ascent of his former NXT boss, Triple H; however, that has never been confirmed to be the case.

Bobby Fish also had an infamous issue with CM Punk that played out in an AEW ring. Fish has since explained what went wrong in their awkward encounter.
