Ex-WWE Champion Confesses to Steroid Use
Steroid use has been a hot topic in the wrestling business for decades and now a former champion in WWE has admitted to using them.
When it comes to sports, steroids are a banned substance as they can provide athletes an unfair advantage over clean competitors. In the world of sports entertainment, however, where there is no actual competition going on, their use has had a long and murky history.
Vince McMahon was taken to trial by the US government, accused of supplying his WWE stars with steroids. Hulk Hogan testified that he was a user of them, which took some of the gloss of the squeaky-clean star Hogan portrayed.
WWE introduced a wellness policy in the mid-2000s, which would see wrestlers drug tested. Many were suspended by the company in the wake of the Chris Benoit tragedy after their names were found to be on a list of people who were supplied steroids by a pharmacy under investigation for providing prescriptions for cash.
Maven Admits WWE Steroid Use
Speaking on his YouTube channel, former WWE Hardcore Champion Maven admitted to using steroids while answering some of the internet’s top questions about WWE stars:
I can only speak for myself, I’m not ever gonna put anyone else’s business out on the street. Did I use steroids? I absolutely did.
