Ex-WWE Champion Got Backstage Heat Because Of Becky Lynch

A former WWE star detailed why they received backstage heat because of Becky Lynch.

Saraya (aka Paige) recently appeared on Sonya Deville & her wife’s Unwrapped podcast, where she told several backstage stories, including the time she got in trouble for celebrating The Man’s birthday.

The former Divas Champion recalled breaking character at a live event to get the crowd to sing happy birthday to Becky Lynch after the two and Charlotte Flair squared off in a Triple Threat. Her act did not sit well with Arn Anderson.

We’re on a live event, and after the match, there was Becky, me, Charlotte, and I think we were doing a Triple Threat, something like that. Anyway, it was Becky’s birthday, right? So, I grab the microphone after the match is done with all of us and I get the crowd to sing her happy birthday, right? Live event, who cares, right? Who cares? I come back, and Arn [Anderson] was f**king livid with me.

He was screaming at me in front of everybody, you know, just like f**king pissed that I would do something because… I understand, we just had this match, and then I completely broke character to wish Becky a happy birthday. But I was like, ‘It’s a f**king live event.’ So, I was just like, ‘Okay.’ And I said sorry and stuff like that. I was like, ‘All right, sorry.’

But back then, I was kind of like a little brat, too. I was like, ‘Whatever. Sorry.’ Yeah, and I went and apologized to him later. I was like, ‘I’m sorry.’ Cuz I did give him a little attitude back, but I understood where he’s coming from. But at the same time, I’m like, ‘It’s just a f**king live event. [1:07:34 onwards]

Becky Lynch Is Set To Compete At WWE Survivor Series

Saraya left the Stamford-based company in 2022. She later had a three-year run with AEW before departing Tony Khan’s promotion earlier this year. The 33-year-old has since taken a break from wrestling.

Meanwhile, Becky Lynch remains one of the top superstars in WWE. She is set to lead The Kabuki Warriors, Nia Jax, and Lash Legend into a WarGames match against Rhea Ripley, AJ Lee, IYO SKY, Alexa Bliss, and Charlotte Flair tomorrow night at Survivor Series.
