Ex-WWE Champion Willing To Return After 7 Years Under Two Conditions

Triple H WWE boss

A former champion in WWE has admitted that they’d be open to a return to the company under two strict conditions.

In the early days of WWE’s developmental brand NXT, one team stood out for their look, size, and dominance as Konnor and Viktor became The Ascension.

The Ascension held the NXT Tag Team Championship for 364 days and looked destined for big things on the WWE main roster. But those big things turned into the group being fed to a succession of legends, killing their momentum and leaving their careers in the company to fade away.

But despite that, if they got the call, they might go back.

The Ascension Open To WWE Return

Speaking with Rewind Recap Relive, Konnor admitted that seven years after leaving the company, he’d be open to a return for the right cash and creative:

The Ascension thing — I would always be open to it. As long as me and Vic have creative control and we can do what the hell we want to do… with the right people — and I could be wrong — but I think Vic and I would come back, if the money is good. More importantly.

Viktor noted that they felt their time in WWE was cursed as something always seemed to derail their momentum:

It’s one of those things I’ve just never figured out. I don’t know — it seemed like we were always cursed. Right afterwards, nothing would ever come to fruition that we had going, even when it would have been something cool. You know what I mean? We were the guys who had all these opportunities that got messed up for reasons beyond our control a lot of the time. And it’s like, what the hell?

WWE is certainly open to bringing former stars back, as Matt Cardona made his return to the company on SmackDown. Under the name he has used since leaving WWE in 2020, Cardona defeated Kit Wilson in his comeback, officially consigning Zack Ryder to history.
