Ex-WWE Star Criticizes Bret Hart For Complaining About Goldberg Constantly
A former WWE star believes Bret Hart is flawed due to his inability to stop complaining about Bill Goldberg.
Anybody who has followed pro wrestling over the last 25 years knows that whenever two-time WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart does an interview, the subject of Bill Goldberg comes up and it usually leads to The Hitman complaining about Goldberg.
The reason why Bret Hart is so angry when it comes to Goldberg is that at the WCW Starrcade 1999 PPV, Goldberg kicked Bret Hart hard in the face. Even though Bret did wrestle after that kick, that kick gave Bret a serious concussion that ended Bret’s career much earlier than Bret wanted.
In the recent “Who Killed WCW” documentary, Bret criticized Goldberg, who he called a gorilla.
“How do you fight Bill Goldberg? He’s like a gorilla, slamming guys through the mat, running them over like a car. I would pull him aside and say I wanna teach you how to actually not hurt guys and when I walked out to the ring with Bill that night I really looked him in the eye and said “Don’t hurt me out there, you need to trust me” and it all went in one ear and out the other.
I really think Bill just saw me as another job guy, someone that was cannon fodder. If you’re watching that match, Bill goes “Watch the kick” and I’m like “Watch the kick?” I don’t understand what he’s doing. He kicked me as hard as he could, you can see me grab my neck, I was concussed.”
Matt Riddle is a former WWE US and Tag Team Champion who was released in September 2023 after working for WWE for about five years.
In an interview with Sportskeeda Riddle spoke about how Bret Hart wouldn’t even respond to him when Riddle tried to speak to The Hitman.
“So I’m at catering. I’m enjoying it, and I get a table with Bret Hart, and I’m like, oh, this is cool. I’m not going to be a super marketer, but I’m going to ask a couple questions to the Hitman.”
“Bret wouldn’t even respond to me or my friend Damien Priest at the time, because we were sitting next to some pretty attractive ladies, and I asked them about their workrate, this, that, and the other thing, how many years, you know, didn’t ask me or Priest a single question, you know, we didn’t talk.”
Bret Hart Criticized By Matt Riddle Due To Goldberg Obsession
As Riddle continued, he spoke about Bret Hart constantly talking about his issues with Goldberg.
“I don’t know about him not being able to let go of this whole Goldberg thing. Goldberg’s come out and said, It wasn’t intentional. I never would have done it. Well, it’s not a matter of intentions.”
“Honestly, I think that’s one of Bret’s flaws. You know? Because honestly, I can hold a grudge against a lot of people. Especially, you know, the s**t people. The things people have said about me that are lies and everything else. I just… What am I supposed to do? Complain? Get out of my soapbox and preach about it? I don’t care. The cream always rises to the top. I’ll just keep working hard and doing the right thing.”
