Ex-WWE Star Critical Of Adam Cole’s AEW Dynamite Return

Adam Cole started AEW Dynamite with a promo against his rival MJF that confused a lot of people, including a legendary wrestler.

After missing more than a year of in-ring action due to a broken ankle that required surgery and a lengthy rehab process, Adam Cole was back at AEW WrestleDream to confront his old friend turned enemy MJF (Maxwell Jacob Friedman).

At the start of AEW Dynamite after WrestleDream, Adam Cole did an in-ring promo talking about how the real MJF is the guy we are seeing now and he called MJF fake. Cole even mocked MJF for having two surgeries for the hair on his head. After MJF responded by saying Cole stabbed him in the back and it would make MJF never trust anybody ever again.

What MJF said on Dynamite was the truth because Cole revealed himself as “The Devil” who turned on his friend MJF during their 2023 storyline. Cole responded by saying that he’ll give MJF the ass beating of a lifetime.

Tommy Dreamer is a former WWE superstar, ECW legend and current employee of TNA Wrestling who covers the business on the Busted Open Radio show. When talking about the Cole-MJF segment on Busted Open, Dreamer suggested another idea for Cole that could have worked well.

“I get [Cole] coming back as a babyface — I did not have a problem with that. I wish he would have come back towards anyone else but MJF. If he would’ve come back with everything running amok by Jon Moxley and this crew, … if he comes back to help Bryan Danielson, he’s already now plugged in as your biggest babyface.”

“MJF Was Right” About Adam Cole According To Tommy Dreamer

As he continued, Dreamer spoke about how the heel MJF came across as a truth-teller in that segment with Cole, which made it confusing for the viewers at home.

“MJF was right in his promo. My babyfaces are being the aggressors, but my heels — there’s no twisted reality. MJF literally said, ‘You were my friend, and I let you in, and then you screwed me over.’ How do I not want to cheer for MJF?”

The in-ring return of Adam Cole hasn’t been announced yet. Cole’s last match was at the AEW All Out PPV in September 2023 when he teamed up with MJF to beat The Dark Order in a match where they retained the ROH Tag Team Titles.
