Ex-World Champion Officially Joins WWE Main Roster
This NXT star is all set to be a part of WWE programming in 2026
The Stamford-based promotion will be entering the new year with some new additions to its roster. According to a report, it is confirmed that NXT star Trick Williams is one of them.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), Williams, who was initially on the list, has now officially joined the main roster.
Williams appeared on the December 26th episode of SmackDown in a backstage segment at the general manager Nick Aldis’ office. Williams was seen relaxing on a chair in Aldis’ office, and when the latter walked in, the former NXT Champion wasted no time in discussing business, asking Aldis if he could match the offer that WWE’s flagship show Raw was giving him.
WWE Undisputed Champion Corey Rhodes interrupted the conversation to talk to Aldis about his ongoing feud with Drew McIntyre. Williams initially left but came back to interrupt Cody and talk a bit of smack by reading out his resume and asking the American Nightmare to hold on tight to the WWE title, indicating that he would be coming after it if Aldis got him on SmackDown.
A post was shared on WWE’s official account with a video of the face-off.

Trick Williams Could Work With Carmelo Hayes Again In WWE
According to the insider, WWE’s creative team, led by Triple H, is working on a storyline and is trying to figure out which of the two brands in the promotion would be the former two-time NXT champion’s new home. It looks like it would be SmackDown alongside his real-life fiancée, Lash Legend.
The former TNA World and North American Champion could also be feuding or partnering with his friend, newly crowned WWE United States Champion Carmelo Hayes, with whom he had a memorable friendship and feud in NXT before Hayes joined the main roster. The two last faced each other in Stand And Deliver 2024.
Trick Williams oozes with charisma, and Carmelo Hayes has shown some amazing in-ring ability by defeating Ilja Dragunov on SmackDown’s December 26th episode to win the US title. The two working together again would be likely in the near future.
