Ex-World Champion Doubts WWE Would Ever Invite Him Back

Triple H WWE Smackdown

A former World Heavyweight Champion in WWE is not expecting to hear from the company any time soon.

Jake Hager recently announced his retirement from the wrestling business following his exit from AEW. Since leaving that company, Hager has done everything he can to burn bridges, claiming many in the company don’t respect Tony Khan and even ranting about the AEW boss being a communist.

While dishing the dirt on AEW might seem to many as a sure-fire way to ingratiate yourself with the bosses at WWE, it doesn’t seem like a return to that company is on the cards for the man who previously held the World Heavyweight Championship while known as Jack Swagger.

WWE Don’t Like Jake Hager

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestlebinge, Jake Hager was asked about being approached for a return to WWE, even for a cameo in the Royal Rumble, but he doesn’t think that call will ever come:

I sincerely doubt it. I don’t think they like me very much.

When asked who Hager was referring to with his answer, he remarked:

Whoever books the Royal Rumble.

The 2026 Royal Rumble will take place on January 31st and, for the first time, will be held in Saudi Arabia. WWE recently announced that Saudi Arabia will also be the home of WrestleMania in 2027, leaving many fans disappointed.
