Ex-WCW Star Wrestles First Match In 15 Years
A former WCW Tag Team Champion has been back in action as one of their former promotions has been resurrected.
Scotty Riggs is best known as one-half of the American Males tag team in WCW alongside Marcus Alexander Bagwell. The Males captured the WCW World Tag Team Championship from Harlem Heat on the third edition of Nitro in September 1995 but only held the gold for nine days.
Riggs remained with WCW until 1999 when he was released by the company and then spent six months in ECW in 2000. Following that stint, Riggs was a part of the short-lived Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling which was owned and operated by the legendary WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes.
TCW Relaunch Has WCW Flavour
Now TCW is back and is being run by Rhodes’ daughter Teil Margaret Rhodes and former AEW star QT Marshall. The relaunched promotion held its first event on February 8th, 2024, and included some stars from the company’s first go-round on the show.
QT Marshall teamed with the TCW Allstars – Scotty Riggs, Glacier, and Luther Biggs – in a big eight-man tag team match. Prior to that, the last time Riggs competed in the ring was back in 2009 at an ECW reunion show where he and Jamie Dundee lost a three way match to Rhino.
While his sister now has an EVP role that he famously vacated, Cody Rhodes’ sights are set on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 and finally finishing his story to win the one title that Dusty Rhodes never held.
