Ex-UFC Star Faces Adam Cole At Forbidden Door
Adam Cole was unable to earn an AEW World Title shot when he went to a time-limit draw with MJF on Dynamite and now the challenges just keep coming for the star.
Forbidden Door will see the best of AEW go up against the best of New Japan Pro Wrestling and Adam Cole is now in the mix on that show following the events of Dynamite in Chicago.
On that show, Adam Cole and MJF came face-to-face again on Dynamite to argue about the result of their 30-minute draw with unexpected results. Tony Schiavone revealed interrupted to both men’s chagrin to reveal that they had been drawn together for the Blind Tag Team Eliminator Tournament to find new challengers for the AEW Tag Team Championship.
They were then interrupted by Hiroshi Tanahashi on the video screen as he reaffirmed his challenge to a reluctant MJF. Cole then goaded MJF into accepting the match against NJPW’s Ace for the AEW World Title but the two men were far from done for the night.
On Rampage – which will air on the 23rd of June so stop reading now if you don’t want to know what happens – MJF returned the favor to Cole as he revealed a Forbidden Door opponent for the star. MJF made his first-ever Rampage appearance count as he confirmed that Adam Cole will face former UFC star and current NJPW star ‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor on the 25th of June. Lawlor then attacked Cole as he made his first-ever appearance in AEW.
