Ex-Champion Returns To AEW After 14 Month Absence
A former champion in Ring of Honor has made their long-awaited return to AEW after a 14-month injury layoff.
Dalton Castle has been out of action since suffering a concussion during a match on the July 13 edition of Collision with Roderick Strong. The injury caused the match to be changed on the fly, and the incident was described as a “mess” by Dave Meltzer.
To make matters worse, it was subsequently revealed that Castle had also suffered a torn biceps and had undergone surgery.
In recent weeks, a vignette aired teasing Castle’s return and a new partnership with popular tag team, The Outrunners. And now, on the September 27th edition of Collision, the comeback is complete.
Dalton Castle Back In AEW
That show saw former ROH World Champion Dalton Castle team with The Outrunners in a trios match against enhancement talents Cowpoke Paul, KM, and Corey Sparks.
This is the latest return to AEW in recent weeks, with the likes of Orange Cassidy, Eddie Kingston, Komander, Jack Perry, and PAC all making their comebacks to the company.
PAC returned at All Out to cost Darby Allin his coffin match with Jon Moxley, while Eddie Kingston competed on that show to defeat Big Bill. Jack Perry’s return saw him reunite with Luchasaurus as Jurassic Express is back in AEW.
