Ex-Champion Critical Of WWE’s Planned Use Of AI – “That’s Not Good”
WWE’s planned use of AI is drawing a great deal of criticism.
On October 17, it was reported that WWE and Triple H are looking to integrate AI into their creative process. Furthermore, it has already taken steps in that direction.
As noted in the report, the company hired Cyrus Kowsari in September with the job title Senior Director of Creative Strategy. When he was introduced to staff by Triple H, The Game said that Kowarsi would lead the company’s transition into “AI-based storytelling” while integrating AI into creative services such as graphics and video.
Kowarsi is also believed to be a “liaison” to the White House as Triple H takes on “more duties in politics.” There’s no word on what these duties might be.
However, the news hasn’t gone down well with everyone.
Lance Storm Unimpressed By WWE
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Lance Storm said that while software could be used to track things like the use of run-ins or heel/babyface turns, it can’t be a substitute for creativity. He added that effectively recycling old ideas using an algorithm is “not good.”
“If they wanted to use it as a safeguard of logic, where you instruct AI to not allow more than so many run-ins, turns and so forth over a year, and it tracks all of these as sort of a fact-checker, a continuity-based thing that would set off alarms when you do stuff repeatedly, that would be okay?
For the most part, AI, most of what it’s used for, it gathers all the existing knowledge on the internet and sums that up. It’s like, you want to study the history of wrestling and repeat stuff? That’s not good. Creativity is coming up with new and fresh ideas. Not recycling old ideas in an Artificial Intelligence algorithm.”
Meanwhile, Triple H missed the October 17 episode of SmackDown with Bruce Prichard running the taping backstage.
