Ex-AEW Star Reveals Talks Ongoing With WWE

Tony Khan AEW

One former AEW star is leaving the door open for a possible return but revealed they’ve been in talks with WWE.

The last time Matt Hardy was in action for AEW was back in January 2024 when he teamed with Mark Briscoe and his brother Jeff Hardy to defeat Kip Sabian, The Butcher, and The Blade. Jeff Hardy continued competing for Tony Khan’s company into February where he was part of an infamous match with Sammy Guevara but since then The Hardys have made a happy return to TNA.

But anything’s possible for the team that made their name in WWE.

Matt Hardy Opens Door To WWE Or AEW Return

Speaking on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy addressed his future and noted that while he’s pleased with how the TNA run is going, he revealed talks are ongoing with WWE:

We are both very, very happy. We’re extremely happy with how TNA is going right now. We’re going to be continuing this for a while. We just actually talked about some creative stuff going through the end of this year right now. That’s very exciting.

As far as going to WWE or AEW, it’s a never say never scenario in my world. In the extreme life of Matt Hardy, it’s never say never. You never rule anything out. You never close any doors on anything. You do your best, you keep your chin up, you keep moving forward and try to speak as honestly and as transparently as possible. It’s one of those things.

If we ended up back in AEW to do something, yeah, we wouldn’t be opposed to that, especially if it is something that sounded really, really good that we were very intrigued by. With WWE, there’s still been some ongoing conversation with WWE, so yeah, anything can happen in the extreme life of Matt Hardy.

Matt and Jeff Hardy made a huge return to WWE in 2017 at WrestleMania 33 with Matt Hardy leaving the company again in 2020 before joining AEW later that same year.
