Ex-AEW Star Wants Jon Moxley To Lose World Title

Jon Moxley promo on AEW Dynamite

Jon Moxley needs to lose the AEW World Championship according to a TNA star.

At Dynasty, Jon Moxley successfully retained the AEW World Championship with a win over Swerve Strickland.

The challenger’s popularity has continued to rise in recent months and many fans tipped him to be the man to dethrone Moxley. However, one BTE Trigger from the returning Young Bucks later, and the champion was able to walk away with the gold.

As Moxley’s title reign has continued, criticism of it, and the Death Riders storyline has grown. This meant Moxley’s latest win was greeted with a largely negative reaction, and Tony Khan was forced to defend his booking at the post-show press conference.

It’s Time To Move On From Jon Moxley

Speaking on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the former AEW star said he agreed with those fans who believe Moxley’s title reign has run its course. It should be noted that Hardy’s comments were recorded prior to the match at Dynasty.

“I think AEW needs a new champion. I think they need to have a fresh start in going in a new direction.”

Hardy added that he would be more than fine with Strickland winning the World Title while suggesting that Moxley’s reign and the Death Riders’ story have all but run their course.

“I just think they need to make a decision, and I think they need someone to win the title soon and have something in mind for what sort of story they want to tell around whoever it is, and have something to run with for a few months…

I just feel like the Death Riders thing has almost run its course,”

Following his match with Moxley and after the show went off the air, Swerve Strickland continued his feud with Booker T, commenting “F*ck Booker T” as he ended his post-show promo. In response, the WWE Hall of Famer said Strickland made a mistake in addressing him as it took the focus off AEW.
