Former AEW star Matt Hardy believes the company should sign ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey.

The former TNA X Division Champion became a free agent after the expiration of his contract on 1st November and has been linked with both AEW and WWE.

Whilst Bailey’s next destination is yet to be revealed, one legendary Superstar who has worked for all three major US organisations believes that Tony Khan’s company is the ideal new home for the 34 year-old star.

Speaking during a recent edition of his podcast ‘The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy‘, the former ECW Champion noted that Bailey’s in-ring style would be well suited to AEW:

“I think he is an ideal fit for AEW, especially with their style and the matches they are typically looking for to produce on their television. He’s gonna do great out there.

I have nothing but the greatest things to say about Mike Bailey. My time working with him has been a pleasure, he really gets it, he gets the idea of classic wrestling and storytelling a lot better than I expected him to because I knew he was a guy that was flashy and doing fancy super cool moves.

He’s a great athlete but he’s got a great mind. He was really good at like implementing myself and Trent Seven when we teamed up and we had this small storyline arc. He was really about putting everybody’s stuff in the right place. Big fan of Mike Bailey and I think he’s got a ton of potential. Just a real sweetheart of a human being.”

AEW Stars Return Excites Legendary Announcer

Another big name who could soon be competing in an AEW ring is Julia Hart.

The 23 year-old former AEW TBS Champion has been absent from the ring since May 2024 having undergone surgery to repair a shoulder injury but looks poised to return to action after a recent series of vignettes on AEW television.

Legendary announcer Jim Ross recently shared his excitement for Hart’s impending return, noting his view that the Minnesota native was ‘very, very talented’.
