Ex-AEW World Champion Allegedly Never Returning To WWE
An ex-AEW Champion might never return to WWE.
Jon Moxley was signed with the Stamford promotion, competing as Dean Ambrose, between 2011 and 2019.
He made his official debut for the company in November 2012 as part of The Shield, alongside Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
The trio formed a deadly heel faction, picking feuds against the likes of John Cena, Ryback, Randy Orton, Sheamus, and many others.
While Moxley won the tag team titles twice with Rollins, he also accomplished singles belts, winning the Intercontinental Championship, the United States Championship, and the WWE Championship once each.
Feeling constricted in his storylines left him unhappy, ultimately resulting in his departure in 2019.
He subsequently joined AEW, making his first appearance at the 2019 Double or Nothing pay-per-view by attacking Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega.
Moxley is currently the leader of the Death Riders and has also served as the company’s World Champion 4 times.
Jon Moxley’s Hardcore Wrestling Style In AEW Prevents WWE Return
David Otunga recently appeared for an interview on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, where he discussed Jon Moxley’s potential future in the Stamford promotion.
However, the ex-WWE star believes that Moxley might never return to WWE due to his hardcore wrestling style.
I don’t know, because I feel like this is what he always wanted to do, because I wasn’t familiar with his work before he came to WWE, but that’s what, that’s the rumor about him. Oh, this guy does death matches. This is where he came from… And so now, seeing him do this like this is clearly what he wants. This fits him.
I don’t think WWE would ever let him do anything close to that. So I don’t see him going back to WWE. I don’t see why. [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]
Meanwhile, Moxley suffered a defeat at AEW Full Gear after tapping out to Kyle O’Reilly for the second time in as many weeks.
