Eva Marie Makes Shocking Revelation About Second WWE Run
Eva Marie has revealed that the plans for her second run in WWE were very different from what actually happened.
There were two separate stints for Eva Marie as a WWE superstar. The fitness model, who has a huge social media following, was signed by WWE from 2013 until she was let go in the summer of 2017.
During that first run in WWE, Eva Marie was part of the popular Total Divas show on the E Network as they showed her personal life with her husband, who she has since divorced. Eva competed in some matches on the main roster and in NXT, but was never pushed that much as a wrestler.
Vince McMahon brought Eva Marie back to WWE in October 2020 during the COVID-19 era, when there were no fans at shows. They pushed Eva’s sex appeal while she promoted the “Eva-lution” that she had planned.
Eva Marie was paired up with a newer wrestler named Doudrop, who used the name Piper Niven before that, and has thankfully went back to the Niven name again. During Eva’s second WWE run, she even had a SummerSlam 2021 match with Alexa Bliss, which Eva lost. Doudrop turned on Eva after the loss, and Eva was gone from WWE by November 2021, so the second run lasted about one year.
WWE Had Eva Marie Wrestle A Lot More Than She Expected
While speaking to the Daria & Toni Unwrapped podcast with former WWE superstar Sonya Deville and her wife, Eva Marie said she was only supposed to be more of a manager for Doudrop. As it turned out, she wrestled a lot more than she was told originally.
“I was just supposed to be a mouthpiece, period. I was like, amazing, because then at some point in time I would end up getting my s**t beat up, but not for a minute.
It also would build Piper because she was a stud and also she can wrestle, she can get down and be my muscle.
That was kind of how it was supposed to go, but then it got switched on a dime, and I wrestled way more than I was ever supposed to.
I wrestled more in that little snippet than I even thought was going to happen. I mean, I had a SummerSlam match and it was on a whim, I’m like ‘Huh?'” (H/T Wrestletalk)
Eva Marie has stated that she’s open to a WWE return if the company is interested in bringing her back.
