Eric Bischoff Shares What Was WCW’s Hottest Act: “They Were The Hottest Thing On The Show”

Eric Bischoff Shares What Was WCW's Hottest Act:

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff discussed an alternate reality for WCW, where its cruiserweight division could have been the company’s top attraction if the nWo hadn’t achieved its overwhelming success.

Speaking on his podcast, “83 Weeks,” Eric Bischoff reflected on the rising popularity of the cruiserweights during WCW’s prime. According to Bischoff, the cruiserweights had the potential to take over as WCW’s main draw if the nWo storyline hadn’t dominated the wrestling world. He emphasised the momentum behind the division at the time, saying:

By that time, the cruiserweights were really starting to get over, I mean, there was enough steam behind these guys that it would have been a lot easier to tell a story with them. Because their performances and their characters were now over because of the product presentation, and whatever booking went into it, they would have been hot enough in that scenario to take a run with.

Bischoff explained that the cruiserweight division was already the second-hottest act in WCW, only behind the nWo. He suggested that in a world without the nWo’s dominance, the cruiserweights would have been poised to take centre stage.

They were the hottest thing on the show, with the exception of the nWo, so, if the nWo wasn’t there, by default what are you going to do next, or instead? You’re going to do the next best thing, which would have been the cruiserweight division.

During its peak, WCW’s cruiserweight division featured high-flying action and top talents like Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, and Chris Jericho, many of whom went on to become major stars. Bischoff concluded by noting that without the nWo, these performers could have risen even further within WCW.

Those guys possibly could have had those opportunities.

Which WWE Superstar Does Eric Bischoff Think Goldberg Should Face In His Final Match?

Eric Bischoff spoke about who he thinks Goldberg should face if he decides to have one more final match. Bischoff said that he thinks Goldberg should honour the wrestling tradition of passing on the torch to a younger up-and-coming star, and he thinks that Bron Breakker would make the ideal candidate for Goldberg to put over.
