Eric Bischoff Scoffs At AEW Participation Trophy
Eric Bischoff has given his thoughts on AEW Dynamite surpassing WCW Nitro.
Despite previously appearing on AEW television, Eric Bischoff has become one of the company’s most vocal critics, believing they’re falling well short of challenging WWE.
Back in April 2024, Tony Khan said the criticism from Bischoff “isn’t rational, logical or truthful,” as the war of words between the two men continued.
But away from Bischoff’s criticism, AEW is currently enjoying arguably its best-ever run with fans and talent in a buoyant mood.
Eric Bischoff Unimpressed By AEW Achievement
On April 16, 2025, AEW aired the 289th episode of its flagship show, Dynamite, making it officially the longest-running wrestling show on the Turner network. Crucially, in the eyes of many, this took it past WCW Nitro.
During a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, former WCW boss Eric Bischoff was asked about AEW moving past the milestone, and unsurprisingly, he wasn’t impressed.
“I just chuckled. It’s like a participation trophy. I guess it matters to somebody. If you took all of the viewing audience that we had over whatever run Nitro had, I think it would take AEW another 15 years to deliver that audience at the rate they are going,”
Despite brushing off Dynamite’s run, Brischoff did praise AEW for pulling in so many fans for All In.
On the July 23 edition of Dynamite, both the men’s and women’s World Champions, “Hangman” Adam Page and “Timeless” Toni Storm, will be in action.
