Eric Bischoff Reveals Why Hulk Hogan Wouldn't Work With Vader In WCW

Eric Bischoff provided insight into why Hulk Hogan was hesitant to work with fellow WWE Hall of Famer Vader during their time in WCW in the mid-1990s.

On his “83 Weeks” podcast, Eric Bischoff explained that Hogan’s reluctance was largely due to Vader’s reputation for having a stiff working style. This style, which involved more intense and physical wrestling, made many wrestlers, including Hogan, cautious about stepping into the ring with Vader.

Hulk Hogan didn’t want to work with Vader because Vader was stiff. Well, are we talking about the guy who broke someone’s back or ruptured Sting’s eardrum? Come on, Vader did work stiff.

Despite his concerns, Hogan was not entirely opposed to working with Vader. However, he wanted to ensure that Vader would dial back the physicality during their matches. Hogan’s style was more focused on character-driven performances rather than the brutal, hard-hitting approach that Vader was known for. Bischoff elaborated on Hogan’s wrestling philosophy, noting that it differed significantly from that of other wrestlers who embraced more physically punishing styles.

Hulk Hogan was a character. He wasn’t Mick Foley who wanted to go jump off of balconies or throw himself off of thumbtacks and end up with 65 stitches in his head. That wasn’t the kind of match he wanted to have. He wanted to make sure that when he got into the ring with people, they were people that would complement the kind of match he could do best.

How Does Eric Bischoff Think AEW Can Improve?

Eric Bischoff explained his plan on how he would improve AEW and said that firstly he would cut down the talent roster as he thinks there are too many talents signed to the company. Following these cuts Bischoff says he would then organise a company-wide meeting to outline his creative strategy to make sure everyone in the company understands the direction he would want to take the promotion.
