Eric Bischoff Names The One Condition Hulk Hogan Had For Joining WCW

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff offered insight into Hulk Hogan’s historic move to WCW in 1994.

In a 2018 interview on Ric Flair’s “Wooooo! Nation” podcast, Eric Bischoff, the former WCW President who played a key role in bringing Hogan into the company, addressed long-standing rumours about the wrestling icon’s demands during negotiations. Many believed that securing Hogan’s contract was a difficult process driven by financial and scheduling concerns, but Bischoff clarified that the talks were smoother than often suggested.

Hulk Hogan’s biggest issue wasn’t the money or the schedule, it was who he was going to work with.

Bischoff revealed, dispelling the myth that Hogan’s negotiations were primarily focused on financial terms. Instead, the wrestling legend’s priority was centred on who his opponents would be.

He didn’t trust very many people, so money was the condition, like one of the conditions, but the precedent was, if we’re going to do this, I’ve got to be in a long-term program with Ric Flair first.

Hogan’s insistence on working with Flair highlights the strategic nature of Hogan’s approach to his WCW debut. Rather than focusing solely on financial gain, Hogan was deeply concerned about his creative direction and the calibre of talent he would face. By ensuring he would work with a trusted and respected figure like Flair, Hogan aimed to maintain his star power and secure a smooth transition into WCW, reinforcing his status as one of wrestling’s biggest names.

What Part Of WWE’s Deal With Netflix Is Eric Bischoff Confused By?

Eric Bischoff said that he is confused by WWE’s relationship with Netflix because he doesn’t understand how the streaming giant has penned a multi-billion dollar deal with the WWE to air its flagship show, Raw, on their platform whilst also releasing a documentary on the company’s former Chairman, Vince McMahon, that isn’t particularly complimentary to McMahon and the company’s former business practices.
