Eric Bischoff Addresses MJF’s Potential As An Actor, How It Relates To John Cena

The AEW World Champion MJF has a bright future when it comes to acting, according to Eric Bischoff.

During his AEW career, Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) has shown that he’s willing to say or do anything to get under the skin of his opponent or to win a match. He showed it at Full Gear last Saturday when William Regal slid MJF some brass knuckles that MJF used to punch Jon Moxley (without the referee seeing it) and pin Moxley to become the youngest AEW World Champion at just 26 years of age.

This past Wednesday on the November 23rd episode of Dynamite, Regal informed the fans at the show that MJF wasn’t at Dynamite because he was filming a movie.

The movie that MJF is filming is called “The Iron Claw” about the Von Erich wrestling family with MJF playing the role of Lance Von Erich, who wasn’t really related to the family. MJF filming that movie is the reason why he was written off AEW television in the run-up to Full Gear.

On a recent episode of his Strictly Business podcast, Eric Bischoff spoke highly about MJF’s talent as a performer.

“You’ve got MJF, who I think probably has the ability to at some point in his life to play at whatever level of the entertainment business he chooses to. If you’re Tony Khan and all of a sudden MJF gets a part and an opportunity to be in a big movie and once he does, you know he’s not coming back, then yeah, it’s bad.”

As he continued, Bischoff made the point that a wrestler that breaks into acting is interested in it because they can make a lot more money at it if they make it big.

“Your guy that you used to have under contract for X amount of dollars a year is now making four times that much, or ten times that much, for doing a movie.”

John Cena has moved on from being a regular wrestler in WWE, but he did so in his early 40s while MJF is still just 26 years old. Bischoff continued:

“John Cena was at the end of his in-ring career. He was good for the industry in general.”

While Bischoff said he has never spoken to Cena about moving on to acting, Bischoff thinks Cena might say something along these lines.

“‘I didn’t really break into movies in a serious way that compromised my WWE schedule until I was ready to retire.'”

MJF is expected to return to AEW Dynamite next Wednesday, November 29th.
