Eric Bischoff Launches Surprising New Career

Eric Bischoff Recalls How WCW Signed A WWE Hall Of Famer For

Eric Bischoff has a new project.

After rising to fame in the mid-1990s, Eric Bischoff enjoyed an incredible run in the wild world of professional wrestling. The WWE Hall of Famer divides opinion, but few people within the industry have managed to have the same impact as Bischoff both on and off screen.

In more recent years, Bischoff has become more known for his various podcasts as he’s taken a step back from the front line. Although he continues to make occasional on-screen appearances for WWE, he hasn’t held an official role since being briefly appointed Executive Director of SmackDown in 2019.

It’s now been revealed that Bischoff has launched a career as a mortgage loan officer via Conrad Thompson.

Speaking to Justin Barrasso for Sports Illustrated, Thompson gave his take on Bischoff’s new adventure.

“Eric knew that I did mortgages, and he was looking to do a refinance. We took a stab at it, came up with a plan, and found a way to help him, as he puts it, change his life.

When we’d do the podcast together, he would heap praise on me for saving him a boatload of money. That’s when Eric became enamored with the idea of helping people in a similar way.”

Thompson added that Bischoff didn’t want anyone to know about his new venture, and simply began doing the work.

“Eric said to me, ‘What if I did it? I was surprised. There’s a class involved, a test you need to pass that has a high failure rate, and a lot of people give up when they realize what it entails. To my surprise, Eric took the class on his own, scheduled the test, and got licensed. He didn’t want anyone to know; he just wanted to learn. I think he loved the idea of helping people. It’s been a way for him to give back to wrestling fans, too.”

Bischoff said working in the industry gives him the opportunity to spend more time at home while helping people.

“Similarly to the way I got involved in the wrestling business, it was very much a coincidence,” said Bischoff. “After spending 25 years on the road, I made up my mind that I wanted to spend more time at home. Getting into the mortgage industry also allows me to help people, and I don’t have to travel far to do it.”

Eric Bischoff Takes Aim At Tony Khan

Despite his new venture, Eric Bischoff has continued to demand more from AEW and Tony Khan. On a recent podcast, Bischoff compared Khan to Dixie Carter before branding him weak for his repeated social media posts about doing deals with Warner Bros. Discovery bosses.

Despite the criticism from Bischoff, Tony Khan continues to promise exciting things on social media. In a recent post promoting AEW Collision, Khan claimed “the most important announcement in AEW history looming large.”
