Eric Bischoff Backs Nick Khan Policy On Internet Wrestling Fans
Eric Bischoff agrees with Nick Khan.
During an appearance on What’s Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon, Nick Khan admitted that he and Triple H give special instructions to the creative team regarding dealing with outspoken critics on social media.
Khan said the creative department is trained to “ignore the noise” and focus on the WWE Universe, rather than people who want to criticise the company. He added that on a personal level, he tries to ignore social media because it doesn’t represent real life.
Eric Bischoff Supports Nick Khan
On the latest edition of his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff gave his thoughts on the subject and threw his support behind Khan. The former WCW boss said that the so-called “Internet Wrestling Community” is just an updated version of dirt sheet culture from the 1990s.
Naturally, he also managed to throw some shade at Dave Meltzer along the way.
“It’s funny. You know, I’ve been saying the same thing for years. Take out Twitter, insert dirt sheets. You know, it’s the same thing. It’s the same mentality.
The reason they’re so upset about Nick Khan saying, ‘Don’t book for these morons, they’re just a small group of people that make a lot of freaking noise,’ the reason that upsets them so much is because they desperately believe their identity as human beings is tied directly to the amount of influence they have on social media.
And the very idea that they’re just a bunch of nerds screaming in the darkness and their voices don’t really matter scares them to death, because if they don’t have that, they don’t have anything.
I used to go so far as to tell people internally, ‘Hey, if guys like Dave Meltzer are burying you, you know you’re on the right track. Anytime you read something in Dave Meltzer’s sheet, think about doing the exact opposite. You’ll be close.’
I mean, I’ve been saying this for decades, so it’s really fun to see someone of Nick Khan’s level coming out and essentially taking the same position, because it’s the accurate one.”
During his interview, Nick Khan also dismissed the idea that CM Punk was difficult to work with, praising him alongside the likes of Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.
