El Hijo Del Vikingo Defeats Ex-WWE Star To Win AAA Mega Championship

El Hijo Del Vikingo is the new AAA Mega Champion.

At AAA Alianzas on May 31, El Hijo Del Vikingo beat Alberto Del Rio to win the AAA Mega Championship for a second time.

In a chaotic encounter, Vikingo got the win after his father, King Vikingo, laid out Del Rio with a guitar, which allowed his son to land his famous 630 Splash. The guitar had been introduced into the match earlier by Dorian Roldan, but Del Rio responded with a low blow before putting Vikingo through a table.

The brawl came just days after Del Rio had tried to attack King Vikingo on a Mexican TV show.

El Hijo Del Vikingo To Face WWE Star

Ahead of the event, it had already been announced that El Hijo Del Vikingo would face Chad Gable at AAA x WWE Worlds Collide. During the May 26 edition of Monday Night Raw, it was confirmed that the match would be for the Mega Championship, spoiling Vikingo’s match with Del Rio.

The Mexican feed in Mexico made no mention of the title being involved, seemingly trying to preserve the result of the Vikingo vs. Del Rio bout.
