El Grande Americano Wins First WWE Title

El Grande Americano has put his lucha libre training to good use as the masked star has captured their first WWE gold.

Chad Gable has lost his ever-loving mind in WWE. Gable began hell bent on trying to be able to defeat luchadors to no success. So he went to Mexico, claimed the secrets of lucha libre, and returned as the mask-wearing El Grande Americano.

The character shift courted controversy after he was first announced as being from the “Gulf of America”, but the reason for Gable’s alter ego became a bit clearer when WWE announced their purchase of AAA, as the sports entertainment giant looks to spread its wings in Mexico.

El Grande Americano spoiled Rey Fenix’s WrestleMania debut when he picked up a big win thanks to loading his mask with metal to see off the ex-AEW star. And now Americano has gone on to even more success by winning WWE gold.

El Grande Americano Wins WWE Speed Title

Before Raw took place in Omaha, Nebraska, matches were taped for Main Event and WWE Speed. El Grande Americano defeated Dragon Lee in one of these bouts to become the new WWE Speed Champion. He is the fourth person to hold the gold following Lee, Andrade, and Ricochet since the title was introduced.

Of course, Chad Gable has previously held versions of the WWE Tag Team Championship on four occasions during his time in the company, but this is the first title held by his masked alter ego.
