Eddie Kingston Responds To Surprise Challenge From AEW Star

Eddie Kingston

Eddie Kingston is coming for a fight.

AEW star Eddie Kingston has been out of action since suffering a broken leg and torn ACL and torn meniscus during a match with Gabe Kidd back in May 2024.

At NJPW Strong Resurgence, Kingston was defending his Openweight Championship against Kidd in a No Ropes Last Man Standing Match. As the violent battle headed toward its equally violent conclusion, Kidd suplexed Kingston from the ring apron through a table at ringside.

However, Kingston’s leg smashed against the steel guard rail. Despite the severity of the injury, the former Ring of Honor World Champion finished the match and a post-match angle as planned.

During his absence, Eddie Kingston has been open about the mental and physical struggle to get back to full fitness, admitting he’s unsure whether he can compete at the required level when he comes back.

Eddie Kingston Confirms AEW Return

On the September 6 episode of Collision, Big Bill laid down a surprising challenge to Kingston. The former World Tag Team Champion said he was looking to fight another proud New Yorker who loves to run his mouth.

“I come from a place where real tough guys are made. New York City. And there’s another guy here in AEW from New York City, who claims to be a tough guy. He loves to run his mouth. But I haven’t heard from him in a long time. I haven’t seen him in a long time. Hell, I don’t even know where he’s at.

So I’m officially calling you out. Eddie Kingston.”

In a post on social media, Kingston responded to the challenge from Bill as only he can. But crucially, he said that the contract is signed, confirming that his return is just around the corner.

So got the phone call and the money is right contract is signed on my end. So Big Bill you dumb goofy bastard just send loctation.

Despite the comments from Kingston, there’s no word on when the match will take place.
