Eddie Kingston Takes Major Step As AEW Return Moves Closer
Things are finally looking up for Eddie Kingston.
At NJPW Strong Resurgence 2024, Eddie Kingston lost the Openweight Title to Gabe Kidd. But unfortunately for Kingston, the impact of that loss would be far bigger than anyone expected at the time.
During the closing stages of the match, the Mad King took a suplex from the ring through a table at ringside. However, as Kingston crashed through the table, his leg smashed into the steel guardrail used to keep fans out of the action.
Although he battled through the remainder of the match and even completed a post-match angle, Kingston had suffered a series of major leg injuries. In the days after the show it was confirmed that he’d broken his leg, while also tearing his ACL and meniscus.

In a new post on social media, Kingston shared a photo of himself with the caption “f*cking ring.” Confirming that he’s finally resumed in-ring training.
Back in June, Kingston said that he’d been back running and “they” were trying to rush him back into the ring. He added that this was fine, but he had other things he needed to deal with first.
There’s no word on when the former ROH World Champion will return to television.
NJPW star Gabe Kidd is also currently out of action after suffering a knee injury. Kidd suffered the issue during his opening match in the G1 Climax tournament against Konosuke Takeshita.
